Buying whole grain mustard is expensive, a dinky jar will cost you 5 bucks and last about 5 minutes. So, my husband had the innovative idea of making our own, something I would have never thought of. Surprisingly, I had never seen a cooking show on how to make mustard, which made me wonder if it was so complicated that it could never be explained in one short 30 minute television episode. Nope, it’s actually so easy that I am now annoyed with the grocery store for overcharging.

6 Tbls Yellow Mustard Seeds
2 Tbls Brown Mustard Seeds
1/3 Cup Water
3 Tbls Cognac
2/3 Cup White Wine Vinegar
1/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar
1 tsp Salt

Mix mustard seeds, water, liquor, and vinegar in a bowl. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 3 days. Add brown sugar and salt. Process until semi smooth.
