List Worthy Experiences in Travel, Food & Adventure

Hong Kong’s Bucket List View

I am a huge fan of going to one of the highest places in each city I visit to check out the view and to get my bearings. In Florence it was the top of the Duomo, Seattle the Space Needle and Georgia’s St. Simon’s was a lighthouse climb.  And almost every city has some sort of pinnacle that requires a stairs or an elevator. But seeing Hong Kong’s best view at The Peak required something a bit more unique,… Read More »

Dessert Comes First in Hong Kong

In a world where I dedicate my life to achieving my dreams, eating dessert before dinner makes total sense. It is a dream. Besides, I am an adult, most of the time, and can make my own decisions about what I ingest, even if it is a entire meal dedicated to sugar. Luckily, dessert always comes first at Hong Kong’s Dessert Kitchen. I like their style. Hong Kong is known for its cutting edge food concepts and The Dessert Kitchen… Read More »

My Day Job as a Restaurateur

I use the term “day job” loosely…very loosely. Because, being a restaurateur takes up most of the 24 hours in a day, not just the typical nine to five. And it’s not really a job, it is a lifestyle choice. If you don’t mind working late on weekends, covering the occasional dishwashing shift or snaking a floor drain when someone throws too many straws down it, then being a restaurant owner may be for you. When I am not traveling… Read More »

Eating Chinese Snake Soup in Hong Kong

It is snake season. That would be a really bad thing if you are hiking the Dragon’s Back trail at Hong Kong’s Shek O Country Park, but it is a really good thing if you are dining within the cities urban area. For myself, it meant that in addition to the adventure of eating chicken feet, there would also be indulgence in another Asian delicacy, Snake Soup. Hurrah. In the Causeway Bay section of Hong Kong you will find Se… Read More »

Eating Chicken Feet in Hong Kong

Eating chicken feet was not my intention when we decided to dine at one of the cheapest Michelin starred restaurants in the World, Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong. It was just a bonus. Tim Ho Wan in is a hole-in-the-wall dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong that gained recognition after receiving a coveted one Michelin star. And it is cheap. Really cheap. We made the journey over to the Mongkok district of town, a section where most menus do… Read More »

3 Day Hong Kong Itinerary. The Plan.

After countless hours of obsessive research, I will be heading to Hong Kong this week and of course I have a plan, a 3 day Hong Kong itinerary. I think it’s a good one. If nothing else, it is overloaded with new experiences, an obscene amount of strange food and plenty of bucket list checks. With only three days of travel in this attraction-loaded city, I have jam-packed as much as possible. Are all of you non-planning travelers gasping at… Read More »

Liquor Tasting at a Portland Distillery

Within the businesses and industrial warehouses in Portland there is a handful of distilleries which manufacture a variety of unique liquors. This area is known as Distillery Row and once you get tired of the downtown pubs, you must venture to drink at a Portland Distillery. There are five liquor houses that make up Distillery Row though we only went to one, the New Deal Distillery which is known for its artisan vodkas. This is perfect because vodka is that liquor. The one I vowed to… Read More »

Exposed in a Single Page. My Media Kit.

I am feeling a little naked today. Maybe only wearing a hypothetical pair of socks. Why? Because this marks the first time I will be sharing Bucket List Journey’s stats in my brand spanking new media kit. Ta da. A media kit is an information sheet or package about a business that is given to potential advertisers or pr representatives. Why has is taken so long? Frankly, I was waiting for better…and then bigger…and then even better numbers to impress… Read More »
